About us

San Gallenses Oeconomiae Comites (SGOC) is the association for students from Italian-speaking Switzerland and other Italian-speaking students at the University of St.Gallen (HSG).

Founded in 1948, SGOC was the first regional student association at the University of St.Gallen. Today, it brings together more than 230 students across the Assessment Year, Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes, providing a community throughout their studies.

SGOC connects students, alumni, companies and institutions, strengthening the link between the University of St.Gallen and Italian-speaking Switzerland.

Our mission

Our mission is to build an open and engaging community where students can meet, share experiences and develop personal and professional relationships.

We create opportunities to meet, learn and exchange ideas on economic, political, social and cultural topics. Through conferences, workshops, Career Dinners, company visits and networking events, we connect our members with professionals, companies and institutions.

At the same time, we promote the Italian language and culture at the University of St.Gallen and maintain a strong connection with Ticino.

Our activities

During the academic year, we organise more than 25 professional, cultural, sporting and social events and initiatives.

Conferences, company presentations, workshops, career dinners and company visits give members insight into different industries, help them explore current issues and build valuable connections for their future.

These activities are complemented by apéros, dinners, sports, excursions and other informal gatherings designed to foster integration, create new friendships and make the most of university life in St.Gallen.
